Plan the Perfect Picnic

Memorial Day is right around the corner, and there’s no better way to celebrate the start of summer than with a picnic! To make sure your holiday is filled with smiles and laughter, check out our tips for pulling off the perfect picnic.

Pick (or make) the perfect spot. Find a location with ample shade, lush grass, and access to restrooms. Want to host the picnic in your yard, but lack proper shade? Set up a tent or umbrella to help keep the sun at bay.

Ditch the disposable dishes. Instead of bringing paper plates that will start to sag under the weight of baked beans, opt for an eco-friendly option like enamel. Lightweight and easy to clean, you’ll be able to reuse them for all your picnics-to-come.

Find finger-friendly foods. Even if you have a stable surface to eat off of, like a picnic table, it’s a good idea to make the majority of your food easy to eat with one hand. Think drumsticks, corn-on-the-cob, and fruit on skewers.

Batten down your blankets. Even if you don’t expect it to be a windy day, it’s a good idea to bring blanket weights and other wind deterrents to keep napkins and other light objects from blowing away.

Carry a cooler. Invest in a quality cooler that will keep your food and beverages cold, even in the hottest temps.

Keep all these things in mind and you’re sure to pull off the perfect picnic this Memorial Day!
